My personal favorite was the Vegetarian Mantu, Afghan-style dumplings filled with onions and topped with yogurt and a yellow split peas and carrots sauce. The flavors were so rich and satisfying, leaving me craving more.

Ok my 2nd time here had to make the trip back to Kandahar Afgan Kitchen. The food, the food, the food, it's incredible and consistent, Sunday noon first table in the door, 9 top. Front man makes you feel like you're at his home, and his partner in the kitchen came out to greet us, with smiles and I got some hugs too! These people are kind and authentic and so is their food, you can feel the love folks! I highly recommend Kandahar Afgan Kitchen y'all! Give them a try, you can thank me later!!! Love

Nice, clean restaurant with OUTSTANDING food! I traveled from Bowie to Baltimore after I'd heard great things about this place. Thank you Assad, Omar and Sidiqque, I will return!

Everytime we order, the food gets better. I've known Assad since his days at the Hellmand and he's taken their recipes to another level. Love, love, love their food. The service is excellent, highly recommend it!!

I placed an order thru Grub Hub.. The food arrived piping hot ( only a 5 min drive from me). I got a cubed lamb dish in a velvety pumpkin puree of some kind with perfect Afghani spices! The full flavored lamb melted in my mouth! Accompanying condiments and grilled veggies were perfectly prepared and accented the lamb perfectly. 5 stars!

My Wife and I, finally found time to check this gem of a restaurant out and we were blown away. The food was amazing and the service was phenomenal! We'll be back for sure.

We had a wonderful experience dining! It's no wonder people visit from all over to try their flavorful cuisine. This family-owned small business will not be small for long - and there's a reason they have so many stellar reviews. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Assad Akbari, the owner, who greeted us with a smile and a handshake. His love for sharing his culture and flavor are evident in the taste and beauty of every dish. We enjoyed the food, but what really made it special was how they made us feel like family. Sadiq and Omar Akbari made great recommendations and told us about some of their favorite dishes. They are now our favorite dishes and we will definitely be back!

I ordered Kandahar for pickup and ended up eating off it for 3 meals! I got the Vegetarian Mantu (Afghan style dumplings filled with onions and topped with yogurt and a yellow split peas and carrots, served with pallow [rice]) and Vegetarian Dolma (baby eggplant filled with spinach simmered in sun-dried tomatoes and herb sauce, served with challow [rice] and shalgham [turnip]). Both were delicious, but the dumplings really stood out! My takeout also came with bread (which I wasn't expecting!) and a delicious green dipping sauce (I'm not totally sure what it was, but the staff member who handed me my takeout said it contains walnuts as an allergen warning.) Delicious food, great portion sizes - overall very impressed!

Visited last night for the first time with family. It was pretty quiet when we got there around 5:15pm but picked up about an hour in. The server was pretty attentive when we got there but then as it got busier, seemed to drop the ball a bit. He didn't come back to refill water and forgot to bring a second order of naan. The place has a good amount of seating and is pretty much self seating. Spots by the window or by the kitchen, plenty to choose from. No ambiance whatsoever, just a sit down and go or take out type of place. The people in my party were impressed with the food, I felt it was just okay. We ordered many appetizers but I just had the mantu. It was fine. My seekh kabob bowl was fine, but the lamb was very dry. Overall, not my favorite. I think the rest of the people I ate with would love to come back but I wouldn't.

New local Afghan restaurant is quickly taking its place in popularity. Good service and delicious food.! Mom and I had: -naan basket and bolani appetizer, leeks and spicy potatoes with yogurt -chicken kabob with tomatoes and onions with yogurt, potato wedges and pickled vegetables -vegetarian mantu, dumplings filled with yogurt, split peas and carrots and challow (white rice) -dessert, cardamom-infused vanilla ice cream, with dates, figs and mango
